Minnesota vacation rentals – Where to book for the best summer getaways
If there’s one question I get all the time, it’s what are the best Minnesota vacation rentals for a summer getaway. And honestly, Minnesota in the summer is straight up magic, but the rental can really make or break the trip!
Over the last 10 years, we’ve stayed at so many spots across the state and these are the ones I genuinely tell everyone about. From a treehouse just outside the Twin Cities to a dome on a sustainable farm up north, this list has something for every kind of trip!
Fawn and Fern
Location: Lake Mille Lacs | Wahkon, MN
Vibe: Elevated

There’s 3 unique cabins to choose from at Fawn and Fern, each with the most beautiful modern design. There’s also trails to wander, a playground and zipline, beach (in a peaceful bay on Mille Lacs), and even a hidden playroom that our kids would not stop talking about. Book just one cabin for a couples weekend, or all 3 if you have a big group. Both work so well!
Klarhet
Location: Lutsen, MN
Vibe: Immersive

Klarhet is a sleek Scandi-style dome on a sustainable farm and it gives serious design envy! Each dome has its own bathroom and kitchen (some even have a loft with another bed), so you get the dreamy outdoor immersion without giving up any of the comforts. Make sure to say hi to the goats on site and visit their food truck!
Glocca Morra
Location: Lake Belle Taine | Nevis, MN
Vibe: Classic

Glocca Morra gives all the up-north nostalgia, but with modern finishes that make it actually feel like a vacation. This classic lake house is one of our top Minnesota vacation rentals because it has a boat rental right on site, sauna, beach, treehouse, and it’s great for a really large group with 6 bedrooms.
The Grove Glamping
Location: Battle Lake, MN
Vibe: Boho

Camping but make it cute! The safari-style tents at The Grove Glamping have real beds, twinkle lights, and the cutest setup, with no pitching tents or sleeping on the ground required. It’s right across the street from Glendalough State Park and the adorable town of Battle Lake, so it’s easy to fill the day with kayaking or floating the river or just relaxing. One of our absolute favorites – we’ve stayed twice now!
Dragestil Aparthotel
Location: Duluth, MN
Vibe: Charming

The views?! The location?! Unmatched! Dragestil Aparthotel is right on Lake Superior, so you can watch the lift bridge go up and ships glide in from every window. Let’s just say the kids and adults were equally as obsessed. It’s also walking distance to Canal Park and a beautiful beach. Highly recommend unit 713-3 (the penthouse)!
Hope Glen Treehouse
Location: Cottage Grove, MN
Vibe: Whimsical

A real-life treehouse just minutes from the Twin Cities! Hope Glen Treehouse is a popular spot because it’s on a wedding site, but you can usually find some weekdays open if you really want to experience this place, which you should. There’s multiple rooms, bathrooms, a full kitchen, and even a secret room hiding inside.
North Shore Camping
Location: Beaver Bay, MN
Vibe: Rugged

All the magic of North Shore camping, none of the gear! There’s 30 tents on-site, but each is tucked away in its own little spot in the woods. It’s right on the Superior Hiking Trail and bike trails and has a great little base lodge with necessities. It’s also a great gathering point for fires, a rooftop overlooking Lake Superior, and saunas. And don’t worry, there’s ATVs to help bring your stuff to your site!
Mysa House A-Frame
Location: Grand Marais, MN
Vibe: Cozy

An A-frame perched above Lake Superior. Mysa House is secluded, stylish, and we loved the views! It’s just minutes from Grand Marais too, so you can wander into town for coffee, shopping, or dinner and then come back to your little escape. Such a special stay.
That’s the list! These Minnesota vacation rentals are at the top of our list after 10 years traveling around the state. I’ll be adding more as we go!
