Metropolis Resort is one of the best gems in the Midwest, located only 1.5 hours from the Twin Cities in Eau Claire Wisconsin! Youāll find an indoor waterpark, action-packed activities, great food, and comfortable accommodations. Thereās activities for all ages to enjoy (we brought our 10 month old and 3 year old) but kids all the way up to teens would have a blast! And donāt worry, so will the adults.
We visited in February, so all activities listed here are indoor, but note that there are fun things to do outdoors in the warmer months, too!

Metropolis Resort Indoor Waterpark
Chaos Indoor Waterpark was the highlight of our Metropolis Resort weekend getaway. Here youāll find waterslides, a lazy river, hot tub, open swim area, and even a zero-entry area with slides and water-play structures for younger kids. There are height requirements for the big waterslides, but our almost-four year old was able to go on one slide by herself (couldnāt wear a life jacket) and another in a double-person tube with an adult (could wear a life jacket). The enclosed waterslide is pitch black FYI but she loved it!
Pro-tip: keep your eye out for special events happening at the waterpark! We participated in a fun rubber duck race in the lazy river while we were there.
Poolside food and drinks
Thereās plenty of space to lounge around the waterpark and even cabanas you can rent. The poolside tables were great for posting up for the day and ordering food and drinks. We ordered pizza from the onsite City Pizza Co. – hello 30ā pizzas! We enjoyed a few adult drinks while thereās lots of fun options for kids like snow cones!

City Eats Restaurant
We ate at City Eats Restaurant multiple times during our stay and loved it. Thereās great options for both food and drinks. Highlights were the breakfast drink flight with everything from a mini bloody mary to a mimosa, and the Wisconsin burger with cheese curds on top!
Dairy Queen and Caribou Coffee
Itās not a true Midwest destination without Dairy Queen and Caribou Coffee. Both are located on site and are huge perks.
Pro tip: The kids meals at City Eats Restaurant come with a coupon for a free Dilly Bar at the DQ!
Action City
Beyond the waterpark, the resort houses Action City, an entertainment center packed with activities. We honestly didnāt even have time to do it all! Thereās something for every member of the family – both adults and kids! Here are our highlights.
Trampoline Park
The Trampoline Park at Action City is HUGE and a great way to get energy out! Thereās so many spots to explore here like a ninja course, tight ropes and balance beams, large open jumping areas, dodgeball, and massive inflated bags to jump into. As a parent with younger kids, I appreciated the designated spots for kids under 8!
Arcade
The arcade at Action City has it all. We put some money on a card and used that to play all of the things! Thereās classic arcade games and modern games as well, like virtual reality. You can even play laser tag and mini bowling, which is great for little kids because the balls are smaller and lighter and the lanes are shorter than traditional bowling.
Indoor Go-Karts
These electric go-karts are part of Action City and really go fast! Choose from a single car or double car option. Our 3 year old was able to go in a double car and she had the time of her life. Note that thereās outdoor go-karts in the warmer months, too!
Indoor Playground
We appreciated the indoor playground so much being we have little kids! Our 3 year old absolutely loved climbing all over and sliding down the fun slides. With all the other things to do at Action City, this had the fewest amount of people and made for a great option for her to play.
Comfortable accommodations
Metropolis Resort offers a range of comfortable rooms and suites designed to accommodate groups of various sizes. Each room is equipped with modern amenities which allowed us to recharge after a full day of activities – and was a great spot to relax while the kids napped during the day!
