Fargo, you’re trendy!! Before our road trip through North Dakota, I asked my followers for recommendations on things to do in Fargo. So many people either grew up or went to school in the area and had so many great ideas, we decided to break up our trip and stay the night so we could spend 24 hours in Fargo North Dakota.
Also, before I jump in I feel like I’m obligated to say that a few of these things are actually in Moorhead, MN, but I do call this out. Hopefully there’s no hard feelings, Fargo and Moorhead people! We had so much fun in both spots 🙂
Start the day with Young Blood Coffee
See what I mean when I say Fargo is trendy? I will forever be dreaming about this coffee spot. Not only does Young Blood roast their own coffee, but they also make their own bread that then makes for the most delicious toasts. I of course had to try the avocado toast and I can easily say it’s the best I’ve ever had. And I’ve had a lot. The bread is toasted but still fluffy…omg so amazing!
Snap a photo of the Fargo theatre
Built in 1926, the Fargo theatre still hosts shows today and is one of the most iconic things about this city. Make sure to walk around downtown to get a few photos or even catch a show there if you can!
Eat lunch at Vinyl Taco
By far the most recommended place in Fargo, Vinyl Taco exceed our expectations. We built our own queso, drank margaritas out of little jugs, and the tacos on homemade tortillas were to die for. My absolute favorite was the cilantro lime chicken taco. The flavors are amazing! All this while you listen to vinyl being spun at the bar.
Shop at Kindred People
Located right downtown near the Fargo Theater, Kindred People is a boutique that has the cutest clothes from some of my favorite brands, like Free People, and accessories. I try not to buy to much when I’m traveling, but couldn’t resist a cute yellow pom throw for my couch 🙂
Shop local at Unglued Market
The CUTEST shop in Fargo is Unglued Market. This spot houses items and crafts from over 250 local and regional makers! They even have a sweets wall in the back with all sorts of dummies for your sweet tooth. I could have spent hours here.
Shop sustainable and give back at Others
The minimalistic style of Others drew me in, but the shop’s mission is what kept me there. Each item here uses fair trade, sustainable practices, or gives back a portion of proceeds. And what’s even better, Others donates 100% of its profits to local and global charities. You’ll find home goods, accessories, and even men’s clothes here. Please check this place out!
Pretend to be a Viking at the Hjemkomst Center
Did you know Moorhead has a viking ship replica that was sailed from Minnesota all the way to Norway in the 1980’s? Me either! And there’s also a replica of a Stave church on site that was built by a local craftsman to honor his Norwegian heritage. These pieces are SO COOL to see up close. It’s $10 to get into the Hjemkomst Center, and a tour of the church is included. Definitely a must see!
Grab a beer at Junkyard brewing
Also in Moorhead is Junkyard brewing, and being this brewery is on my summer bucket list we had to stop in! Junkyard has a few bars, one that had live music on the Saturday night we were there, and a huge patio! It was busy but it was easy to find room to sit. And the beer is now one of our favorites in MN!
Eat locally sourced food at HoDo
Located in the Hotel Donaldson, HoDo (get it?!) restaurant uses organic and locally sourced ingredients to make up its menu. I ordered the super green salad which had all my favorites on it. Not only was it DELICIOUS but it also filled me up. Cole ordered the General’s Chicken which was also amazing. Make sure to get a few cocktails too!
Order a night cap at Drekker
Drekker Brewing just opened it’s new location, called Brewhalla, which is located in an old train station. It’s such a cool building where you can enjoy a beer by the fire or play pinball inside. We heard rave reviews about the beer here, so I had the Loki is my Homeboy IPA (mainly because of the name haha) and would for sure order again! We definitely see what all the fuss is about.
Cheers to enjoying 24 hours in Fargo North Dakota and Moorhead Minnesota and all the fun they have to offer! For more on our trip to Medora, North Dakota, click here!
These are really great shots!
