Wisconsin Dells wineries and distilleries

While in Wisconsin Dells, we quickly realized that there’s no shortage of fun spots to grab a drink. We spent some time each day checking out a winery or distillery in the area. No matter what season you’re visiting Wisconsin Dells, these would all be great options. Keep scrolling for more info on our stops!

Dells Distillery

Dells Distillery

Located downtown, Dells Distillery was our stop for lunch on day one and is the most convenient stop if you’re staying in Wisconsin Dells. The spirits aren’t actually distilled on-site, but it’s the only place you can try their signature cocktails. It’s located in the coolest old bar with lots of food to choose from (check out the tots – their specialty!). I had the cranberry gin spritz which was amazing and not too sweet. Our group was a huge fan of the cocktails all around – we even talked about going back for more a few nights later!

Warning, lots of wineries ahead! Fawn Creek Winery is the only winery located in Wisconsin Dells, so it’s the closest trip if you only have a short amount of time. This winery has lots of fruit-based wines and we did a free tasting of at least 10 different kinds – I had to stop counting! My highlight, however, was the 16 inch soft pretzel. SO GOOD. We sat on the (huge) deck in the backyard that was partially enclosed and heated for the winter, but this would also be a great summer spot!

Baraboo Bluff Winery is located in Baraboo, about 10 minutes from Wisconsin Dells. It has the most gorgeous views from the tasting room and has a great outdoor space as well. We tried all the wines for $5 (and got to keep the glasses) but you can also sample 3 for free! We all loved the dessert wine that was sampled along with chocolate from Baraboo Candy Co. Paired together it tasted like chocolate covered cherries – we had to buy some to take back with us for later!

Can’t decide if you want to visit a winery or distillery? Look no further, this place has it all! Located in Prairie du Sac, Wollersheim is about 20 minutes from Wisconsin Dells, and you could easily spend an entire afternoon here. Our first stop was the winery where we did a free tasting. My favorite was the Cremant de Bourgogne, a dry sparkling white wine. The winery started in the 1840’s and is located on a national historic site. We walked around the grounds and even toured the original wine cave!

Next stop was the distillery where we opted to try cocktails versus flights. With varieties of vermouth, absinthe, gin, and brandy, there were so many options to try and the modern-industrial tasting room was a great spot to enjoy them!

I know there’s a few Wisconsin Dells wineries and distilleries I missed. What others should we try?
