Winter hiking essentials

1 North Face Women’s Boots

There’s aren’t necessarily hiking boots, but are my favorite boots for hiking in the winter because they’re not very heavy but still so warm!

2 Smart wool women’s winter socks

Wool socks are naturally moisture-wicking, so they keep you fresh AND dry! My favorite brand. Definitely worth the extra money for wool.

3 North Face Women’s Down Parka

This down parka is great for when it’s really cold. Helps protect against snow tooI LOVE my North Face jacket!

4 Columbia Women’s Light jacket

Even when it’s cold I can still get very warm while hiking. I love this jacket for longer hikes or if it’s not too cold!

5 Women’s wool base layer

Again, wool is the best base layer because it’s naturally moisture-wicking. It’s more expensive but so worth it! Love the look of this one.

6 Fleece Leggings

I like to wear fleece leggings while I hike in the winter. I get too warm if I wear more than that, unless it’s very cold outside!

7 Thermos

Pack some hot coffee or hot cocoa (with baileys if you’re like us) when you take a break mid hike! This thermos is the best and is so durable. Lots of dents from us and still works great!

8 Chapstick

DO NOT forget chapstick while hiking in the winter! You’ll thank yourself later.

9 Camelbak insulated backpack

Don’t forget to drink water even while it’s cold outside! This backpack is built for cold temps, has extra space for carrying things, and the water hose is even insulated. A must!

10 Snowshoes

You don’t need snowshoes for every hike, but you will for some when there’s deep snow! We bought some last year and they were so fun.

11 Reusable snack containers

Our favorite light weight containers for snacks and sandwiches while on the trail.

12 Binoculars

We’ve gotten very into binoculars while we hike to see even more things! This are nice and tiny for your backpack.

13 Patagonia winter hat

Perfect for men or women. The cutest and warmest hats!

14 Mens wool base layer pants

Can I say any more good things about wool base layers?! A must for winter hiking.

15 Men’s base layer long sleeve

Ok, maybe I’m not done with the wool base layers yet! Winter hikes can get sweaty and moisture-wicking wool is the best for that.

16 Smartwool Men’s winter socks

Smartwool is our favorite brand for socks! Naturally moisture-wicking, plus these are extra warm for winter!

17 Men’s Sorel snow boots

Cole loves his Sorel boots. These are made for winter AND hiking.

18 Columbia Mens jacket

Cole gets warm quick while hiking in the winter, so he opts for a lighter jacket that’s still insulated. He loves this one.

Props to you for getting out and hiking in the winter! Hope these winter hiking essentials get you through!
