Favorite things to do in Longville MN
For the last few years, my friends and I have spent a long weekend in Northern Minnesota at a family cabin. This year, Mother Nature hit us with cooler temps, so our plans of spending the weekend at the sandbar in floaties had to change.
Instead, we spent the weekend relaxing at the cabin and exploring the surrounding areas. We couldn’t find much online for things to do in Longville MN, so we took it on ourselves to figure it out!
If you vacation in the Longville area or happen to be driving through, give these spots a try!
The Pickled Loon Saloon
Our first stop is technically off the highway in the town of Outing, but the funny name and lakeside patio drew us in. The service at The Pickled Loon Saloon was sub-par (in their defense, it was Bingo night, so it was pretty busy) but we couldn’t leave without trying the pickled loon martini. It was fun to try, but the beer went down a little smoother! 🙂
Pine Company
Our friend’s mom told us to check out this new store in Longville (Thanks Robin!) and we’re so glad we did! This adorable shop just opened this spring and is locally owned. Pine Company isn’t the regular “up north” store you would expect to see in a town like Longville. We found brands like Fairbault wool pillows and blankets, Pendleton accessories, Blue Platypus tanks, and the popular Sota clothing line. We each found something to take home, including this bracelet above!
Frosty’s Ice Cream
I don’t think anyone goes to Longville without stopping at Frosty’s Ice Cream. Seriously, everyone you pass on the street is holding one of these cones, so we had to stop in! The old school ice cream shop vibe was so fun and the monster cookie flavor was ridiculously good.
Other things to do in Longville MN
Longville is located right off Girl Lake, so there’s a lot of boaters who dock and spend some time in town. We only spent a few hours here, but if I’m ever back I have to check out the funky Birdie’s mini golf course and the famous Turtle races! The Longville Turtle races have been taking place since the 60’s and happen each Wednesday from June through August – so fun!
Cabin time
The rest of our time was spent enjoying the great outdoors, regardless of the chilly weather! This meant enjoying drinks on the deck, fires by the lake, and canoeing around the bays. Cheers to my amazing friends for the best weekend! xoxo
This was awesome! Hope to get to Longville sometime! I’m headed Up North to the Grand Rapids area soon. Know anything fun for us to try while we’re there? Totally love what your doing!
It’s like you know what’s next on my schedule!;) More to come on Grand Rapids!
