There’s not a lack of things to do in Branson, Missouri! We visited for a long weekend in November before the holidays and had the best time with our 2-year-old in tow. Branson is such a family-friendly destination that has great attractions and food (one of the many reasons we love traveling!).
We flew into Kansas City and drove to Branson from there, but it’s also drivable from many Midwest states.

Where to stay in Branson
We stayed at the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing. This spot is in the heart of downtown Branson, which is completely walkable – meaning it gets major brownie points from us. Branson Landing is located right on the water and is full of great restaurants, shops, and things to do. Branson’s original downtown is also just steps away. You can’t get a more convenient location!
Things to do in Branson
See the fountains at Branson Landing
Speaking of Branson Landing, its biggest attraction is the fountain shows that happen free of charge every hour on the hour, starting at noon. The fountain shows include music, fire, and water, and are so fun to watch; make sure to stop by to see a show at dark as well – the lights are amazing! Holiday music and extended shows take place leading up to the holidays too, so check those out.
Shop and sip at 417 Vintage Market
One of our favorite spots in downtown Branson is 417 Vintage Market. It has great home goods to browse, including lots of seasonal décor. You’ll also find the adorable Commercial St. Coffee, home to amazing coffee and delicious treats.

Grab a treat at Parlor Doughnuts
I have never had doughnuts quite like Parlor Doughnuts. And their location is so cute. They make a delicious croissant and donut fusion that is absolutely amazing. My favorite was the raspberry pistachio.
Visit the Aquarium at the Boardwalk
Branson’s Aquarium at the Boardwalk was a trip highlight for our 2-year-old. And for us 😊 It’s very well done, clean, and interactive with many different exhibits to explore. We loved the free 4D show, glowing jellyfish, and climbing around on the kid’s play areas! We easily spent two hours here.
Get a meal at Big D’s BBQ
Authentic BBQ is a must when in Missouri! Big D’s BBQ has stellar reviews and did not disappoint. We ordered a few platters – definitely get the burnt ends and brisket!
Take a ride on the Branson Scenic Railway
Our daughter loves trains, so this was a hit! Daily excursions are available on the Branson Scenic Railway, but for the holidays you can take a special ride on the “Polar Express” to pick up Santa Claus in the North Pole.
See the lights at Silver Dollar City
Silver Dollar City is a theme park that offers rides, a waterpark, and shows during the warmer months. But it’s a must-visit during the holidays too! See MILLIONS of lights, holiday shows, eat festive foods, watch the light-up parade, and so much more. Many rides are open too, including a spot for younger kids which our daughter loved.
Get breakfast at Clocker’s Café
Clocker’s Café is your traditional American diner with Southern breakfast favorites. The French toast was to die for! It’s a great spot that always has a line out the door, especially on weekends.
Take a photo by the Branson mural
I can’t pass up a fun photo opportunity! Located a block from the Branson Scenic Railway and across from the Hilton is the Greetings from Branson mural. You can’t miss it!
Sip local brews at Seven Arrows Taproom
Located at Branson Landing, Seven Arrows Taproom offers local taps from all around Missouri. It’s a great spot to take a break from your strolling and try something new. Non-alcoholic options and food are on the menu as well.
See a live show
One of the best things to do in Branson is to see a live show. We made our way to Grand Country Resort to see Amazing Pets, a live show with trained cats, dogs, and parrots. It was so fun for both adults and kids! Our daughter didn’t have to sit still and be quiet during the show, which was great. And they also raise awareness about animal adoption, rescue, service programs, and share fun facts about different breeds and behaviors.
Get nachos from Bricktown Brewery
Bricktown Brewery does nachos right. And beer. This is a great spot for the family with food and drink options for everyone. Conveniently located at Branson Landing.
These are our favorite things to do in Branson, Missouri, but there’s so much more we could have done! Overall, it’s a great family-friendly spot with endless entertainment options no matter the time of year. Enjoy!
