best minneapolis skyway coffee shops

The Minneapolis skyway can get pretty crazy during the work week, so I’m always on the hunt for a spot to escape the hustle and bustle, even if it’s just for a minute! There’s obviously plenty of Caribous and Starbucks, so here’s some great hidden gems that are a must visit. Keep scrolling for my round up of the best Minneapolis skyway coffee shops!

Blackeye Roasting Company is new to the Minneapolis skyway and is a great stop if you’re looking for a strong pick-me-up. This coffee is roasted and brewed in St. Paul and is some of the best Nitro you can find. You can order it on tap, in a can, or even purchase a growler. If you have time to spare, the signature drinks are a must-try, as well as the donuts. Don’t forget about the donuts!! They’re made by Cardigan donuts with Blackeye coffee. How cool is that?

You’ve probably seen Penny’s Coffee all over Instagram, and for good reason. This space is located near the end of the Minneapolis skyway system, on Washington Ave, and is full of natural light. I played the role of a typical Millennial and ordered some avocado toast and tea while I got some work done. Penny’s is also known for their crepes, so give those a try if you have the time!

You can find Dunn Brothers coffee shops all over Minneapolis, and each location is a bit different. I frequent the 333 S 7th street location because I tend to go to work without eating breakfast and Dunn Brothers always has quick options without the lines of Starbucks or Caribou. I especially love the oatmeal! They also have plenty of other food options for breakfast, snacks, and lunch.

All the coffee shops I’ve listed have seating, but none quite as aesthetically pleasing as Peace Coffee on the ground floor of Capella Tower. Peace Coffee has 2 locations in Capella Tower, so make sure you go the 1st floor! Peace Coffee beans are roasted locally in Minneapolis, are organic and fairly traded. Cozy up by the fire or bring your work meeting to the couches for a more relaxed atmosphere than your office.

That’s it for now! I will update as I find more favorite spots. Where do you frequent?
