Staycation at Ham’s Haus Lutsen

We love a good Minnesota staycation and our staycation at Ham’s Haus Lutsen might just be one of our favorites.

Ham’s Haus Lutsen shipping container staycation

Ham’s Haus Lutsen is constructed out of shipping containers, making it such a unique place to stay in Minnesota. We never would have guessed because everything is so well done – these might just be the most luxurious shipping containers! The floor to ceiling windows were a favorite, especially as the snow fell.

Retro fireplace

We visited Ham’s Haus Lutsen in the winter, so we took full advantage of the retro fireplace. It’s so cozy and made for the best atmosphere while we enjoyed a glass of wine after a ski day.

What you need to know for your stay

Ham’s Haus Lutsen has literally thought of everything. It’s incredibly clean, smells wonderful, and we especially enjoyed looking through the well-curated books, listening to antique records, and taking in the local Minnesota art on the walls! They even have heated floors which is a big bonus in the winter.

Two bedrooms

This Minnesota Airbnb has two bedrooms, one with a king-sized bed and little nook with a desk. Again, no detail is missed in this room – we especially loved the neon sign hanging over the bed.

The second room consists of a bunk bed which is so fun for kids, but can also seep adults. Both bedrooms have access out to the fenced-in pet area. More on that below!

Luxury bathroom

We love a good shower and Ham’s Haus has just that. Great water pressure, luxury soaps, fluffy towels, and everything’s earth-friendly.

Open concept

We brought our 2 year old with us, so we loved having an open-concept living space so we could cook and enjoy each other’s company at the same time. The kitchen has all the necessities and more!

Dog friendly

One of the biggest requests I get is for places to stay in Minnesota that allow dogs. Ham’s Haus Lutsen is one of those places! You’ll need to pay an additional pet fee for cleaning purposes, but they will provide you with dog dishes and even have a fenced-in pet area on the side of the house which is so appreciated!

Proximity to Lutsen Mountain Resort

Lutsen Mountain Resort is under ten minutes from Ham’s Haus, and it’s our favorite place to ski in Minnesota! We had a gorgeous bluebird day with incredible views of Lake Superior.
