Kicking off the holiday season

For the last few years, Cole and I have visited the Holidazzle to get in the holiday spirit, and each year it gets better and better! We decided to do a Holidazzle date night this last weekend and had so much fun. It helped that there wasn’t a negative windchill, but I’ll admit that some snow would have been nice 🙂

Keep scrolling for the highlights of our 2017 Holidazzle date night, and hopefully you’ll get the chance to check it out for yourself!

I’m a huge fan of anything local, and the Holidazzle has so many great local businesses on site. Our favorite shop we stumbled into was Hippy Feet. We were drawn to the socks on display, but quickly learned that they’re about so much more than just socks. For every pair purchased, a pair is donated to a local homeless shelter. And if that’s not enough, Hippy Feet employs the homeless to help get them back on their feet. How cool is that?

I loved their socks almost as much as their business model. We picked up a few for Christmas gifts, but also got a pair for ourselves. If you’re looking for a unique gift with a great story behind it, this is your answer!

I don’t think I’ve ever written a post and not talked about food (who wouldn’t?!) My go-to at the Holidazzle each year is the poffertjes by The Littlest Pancake. Poffertjes are a dutch treat that taste and look similar to mini pancakes, but topped with chocolate sauce and whipped cream. YUM. We also went for some classic cheese curds, beer, and cinnamon roasted almonds.

Pro tip: Don’t forget your gloves while holding ice cold beer. But if you do forget, there’s a nice Fulton beer tent to warm up in.

The Holidazzle has no shortage of things to do for the whole family. Beer and hot cider for the grown ups and playgrounds, Santa, and big-screen movies for the kids. We spent our time looking at the lights, listening to the band, and warming up by the fires. We may or may not have snuck in a few photo ops too 🙂

Ice skating

It doesn’t get more festive than ice skating under the city lights. We’re not great skaters by any means, but we always have a blast strapping some skates on for a few laps around the rink. The best part? Skate rental is free! And there’s plenty of skates available for everyone in all different sizes.

We ended the night by walking a few blocks to the Beer Garden at the Butcher and the Boar. This is a favorite spot of ours with good beer and even better food. The spicy brussels, pulled pork in a baked potato, and pastrami sandwich are to die for!

Cheers to the holidays! Now get out there and enjoy it 🙂
