Cuyuna Cove is a great Minnesota staycation regardless of season! We stayed in the winter of 2021 and had a great time working from our cabin and exploring the surrounding area. See why you need to stay here, too!

Cuyuna Cove cabins
Cuyuna cove is located in Crosby, Minnesota, about 2 hours north of Minneapolis. It consists of 5 tiny-home style cabins, with more additions (like tents!) coming soon. Four cabins are standard, and one is a deluxe cabin, meaning it’s more private, has its own fire pit, and features an outdoor shower to clean all the red dirt off in the summer! This is where we stayed and would for sure stay again!
Cuyuna Cove cabin amenities
All cabins have their own bathrooms, an outdoor grill, and all the cooking basics you’ll need for your stay. It also has its own bathroom towels, shampoo AND conditioner, coffee beans and a French press, and even a little cot if you’re in need of an extra bed. We loved cooking our meals here each day!

Work from Cuyuna Cove
Many of the weekends at Cuyuna Cove were booked far in advance, so we instead chose to stay over a few weekdays and work from the cabin. We’re lucky to both have jobs where we are able to work from home, so we brought our computers and had some of the coziest work days ever, with lunchtime snowshoe breaks! The wifi here is awesome. We both were on video calls with screen sharing all day and didn’t have any issues. And believe me, we’re wifi snobs 🙂
Use the surrounding Cuyuna Trails
Our lunchtime snowshoe hikes while we worked from Cuyuna Cove was the highlight of our stay! The Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area encompasses both Crosby and Ironton and is well known for its mountain biking in the summer. In the winter, fat tire biking is huge, as well as snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Boot hiking on the trails isn’t allowed as it ruins the trails for bikers. Either bring your own gear or work with Cuyuna Cove for rentals.
Cozy up by the fire
The Acro Deluxe Cabin that we stayed in has its own private fire pit, but there’s also two more fire pits down by the water for the other cabins to use. It’s so dreamy with all the lights and the snow! Definitely pick up some firewood from town to use for a fire, even if it’s cold outside – winter fires are the best!
Explore the Crosby area
We stuck to the cabins and the trails this time around, but we’ve visited the Crosby and Brainerd area during the early Fall a few years ago (pre-COVID). Click here to see our favorite restaurants, shops, and other things to do!
