Food and drinks that won’t break the bank
We spent 3 days in Stockholm in August and did plenty of eating and drinking while we were there! Read more for our must try food and drinks in Stockholm. For more details on our trip, click here!
Fabrique
Do you even Fika? If you want to eat like the Swedish, FIka is a must. This is basically taking a break during the day for a sweet treat and coffee. Literally my definition of a perfect meal. There’s so many fun coffee shops in Stockholm, but Fabrique was my favorite. It has the cutest design and the best pastries. I mean, just look at them!
Chokladkoppen
If you’re wanting coffee, but are going for the atmosphere, check out Chokladkoppen. Located in Stortorget, it’s right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Gamla Stan. The people-watching is great and so are the kanelbullar (Swedish cinnamon buns). You’ll see these pastries all over Stockholm, so make sure to give one a try!
Ostermalms Korvspecialist
You’ll also see hot dog and sausage vendors all over Stockholm, but I would definitely make a special trip to Ostermalms Korvspecialist for some quality sausages. I had the house, but don’t worry about it being spicy (they might tell you that, but I promise it’s not!) The sausages are served in a hollowed-out, toasted baguette and served with sauerkraut. This was our cheapest meal and our favorite in Stockholm.
Meatballs for the people
Swedish meatballs are a must. I did a bunch of research before we left to find a spot where we could try multiple kinds of meatballs but not be anywhere too pricey. We settled on Meatballs for the People (located in Sodermalm) and weren’t disappointed. We ordered the traditional Swedish meatballs with potatoes and lingonberries, along with a sampler plate that had 4 different kinds of meatballs, including moose and reindeer!
Omnipollos Hatt
After our meal at Meatballs for the people, we stopped by Omnipollos Hatt, a Swedish craft brewery! We were surrounded by locals at this place and it had a great atmosphere and great beer. In my last post I talked about Stockholm being a city where I could see myself living. This little place felt like home! And I loved the neighborhood – if we ever come back we’re staying in Sodermalm! One other thing to note, they were serving the best looking pizzas…it wouldn’t be the worst thing to show up at this place hungry.
Beer overlooking Gamla Stan
I’m going to apologize right away because I can’t remember the name of this spot, but it’s located right next to the Hilton Stockholm Slussen in Sodermalm. It might have just been a summer pop up, but it was a great spot to overlook Gamla Stan and sip on some drinks.
Aifur
I wrote about this in my last post too, but Aifur was so much fun! It’s definitely filled with tourists, but everyone is having the best time! Every time someone new enters, their name is announced and everyone pounds on the tables and cheers. The music and food all transport you back to the Viking age. If you’re a fan of the show Vikings, you will love this place!
