5 ideas to get you outside

We love exploring our own backyard of Minnesota, so we’ve been busy trying to find unique things to do around the Twin Cities during quarantine!

Remember to stay at least 6 ft away from others, and if someplace is too busy, just simply turn around and visit at a different time.

Here’s a list of our favorites so far. Hang in there, Minnesota!

Did you know the state fairgrounds are open even when the state fair isn’t happening? Grab your bike or your rollerblades or just go for a walk on the empty streets! It was so weird being there with no other people, but a cool change of scenery. If the Minnesota State Fairgrounds aren’t close to you, check your local fairgrounds to see if they’re open!

There’s great hiking around the Twin Cities, but there’s also some great hikes a little further away that can still be done in a day trip! We’re lucky that our state parks are still open, so make sure to keep your distance from others and go in the morning or late afternoon for less people.

The Twin Cities has amazing history and amazing historical structures to go along with it. Minneapolis specifically has some awesome bridges that are just ready to explore. We found some great bridges near Boom Island Park recently that we’ve never seen…and we’ve lived downtown for 5 years! Makes for great photo ops.

Cole and I are both University of Minnesota alums, so we took a stroll down memory lane as we walked around the campus for an afternoon! Large walking areas makes it great for walking and keeping your distance, and we realized although we’ve been back to campus for sporting events, it’s been FOREVER since we’ve walked around the gorgeous campus. If you have a college campus close to you, go explore the empty streets!

Hope you enjoyed these 5 ideas to get outside during quarantine! Stay safe out there, folks, and be nice to one another 🙂
