Amsterdam has an amazing food scene. I usually spend lots of time researching places that have great food and fun atmospheres before we go, but this time I have to give my travel buddy Taylor the credit! Thanks for these amazing finds, girl. Keep scrolling for my favorites 🙂
Favorite restaurants in Amsterdam
For more things to do in Amsterdam, read my post all about our 2 days in Amsterdam here!
The Good Companion
The Good Companion is all about fish and chips…because that’s all they do! And they do it well. They use sustainable fish and local ingredients, and have a bar full of local beer. The classic fish and chips is amazing, but also order the catch of the day for some more flavor!
Mook
I don’t think I need to say more than these photos, but if you get stick of waffles, these are a must try! Mook is an adorable bright and airy restaurant with all kinds of pancakes and fresh juices. And I mean all kinds. I ordered the blueberry deluxe, but you can also order savory pancakes with pulled chicken, smoked salmon, or ham and cheese!
Brouwerij’t IJ
If you love trying out local breweries when you visit new places, definitely add this to your list! A brewery in a windmill! Brouwerij’t IJ was one of our favorite spots…just make sure to get there shortly after they open to snag a spot before it gets busy!
Brouwerij De Prael
Surprise! Another brewery! And it won’t be the last 🙂 If you find yourself in Central Amsterdam looking for a little escape, head to Brouwerij De Prael for a tour and some beer. The milkshake IPA was my favorite!
Dapper
Dapper is located in west Amsterdam, right near our AirBnB. We walked past it a few times and had to stop in to have a beer overlooking the canal! This spot was filled with locals and had has a great drink selection.
Mannekenpis
Fries are all over Amsterdam, but stop by Mannekenpis to get the best of the best. The fries are fresh and you can choose your size and from 22 dipping sauces. Located in central Amsterdam, there’s LOTS of people and usually a really long line, but it goes fast and is so worth it!
Foodhallen
Foodhallen is the most amazing food hall you’ll ever go to. We spent the afternoon here trying all kinds of different foods that are local to the area and from around the world! My favorite was the sausage in a pretzel bun – so yummy! A perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon – and very few tourists!
Xampanyeria Centra
Xampanyeria Centra is a quirky Spanish restaurant (also in central Amsterdam) that we stopped at for some cava (Spanish sparkling wine). In fact, it’s known for it’s cava, so give it a try!
Bagels & Beans
Another great breakfast spot, Bagels & Beans allows you to make all sorts of bagel creations! Choose your bagel, cream cheese, and toppings…you can even add crickets, mealworms, and grasshopper for some extra crunch! EEK!
The Seafood Bar
A friend told us to get dinner at The Seafood Bar for some of the best food around and it didn’t disappoint! Cole and I shared the mixed grill for one with mussels, shrimp, squid, corvina fillet, prawn, lobster, and more! SO amazing.
